No one should be in the market unless he or she has the wherewithal
of a Hugh Hendry with $2bil to spare to short Chinese (via Japanese
industrials) credit. The arrogant adolescent Chinese are not creating
wealth. They are creating GDP, simply using their 1.3bil population
as soldier ants to build massive structures as a puerile finger-up gesture
not against capitalism but against foreigners, even Japanese. That is
why vast empty structures dot the country-side, and even a complete
ghost city. When that Hitler-like social experiment runs out of credit
the Hendrys will own the world. He will have excited other venture capitalists
to do the same, and pretty soon there will be a run on Bernanke's confidence
that this arrogant adolescent behemoth is the West's saving grace.
Last week's IndexPrefs were OK, and the next may also have been. But
there is no fun in being right or nearly right or even spot on (see
last week's Nasdaq) at these relationally rarefied highs. It
is also irresponsible to provide D/Ts, since they may encourage small
investors to enter the market when it is clear it is at its rational
apex, and may turn south with a vengeance at any moment when sentiment
turns to fear. The market is being tugged and manipulated by non-investment
decisions - rather politico ideological sentiment, as it was for the
last month or so up to the buildup to the 2008 US presidential election.
So no further IndexPrefs until there are clear rational signals
where geopolitics or geoeconomics are taking us. It may take weeks or
months, or days. The potential harm is just too great to encourage you
to risk your hard earned cash on rank roulette wheel speculation. This
is thus the last posting until that day breaks. Ciao. Cura ut valeas.
Sell up and go to the beach. And remember to put your cash under the
mattress.

The metals (Gold, Plat, Silv, Copper) are reaching stratospheric heights.
You can take it as a given that irrational exuberance will push them
higher. But for how long? The same applies to the Indian Sensex - not
covered here - definitely in bubble territory. The Swiss Fr is an early
warning for the euro to pull back and hence the precious metals. The
indices are on a knife's edge (except Allords and Hangseng).

The multiple '?' says simply, I do not know. Dr Gut has never placed
so many question marks in the IndexPrefs. All may go up or
down. They are all either subject to sentiment's irrational exuberance
or all may be on a knife's edge and collapse at any moment. Whatever
scenario plays out, this is not the time when a rational investor is
naked the market. Except crude. Reason may be found there. If we are
correct on the direction to be found in crude, that may tell investors
something as to where the market is heading.
